ANNUAL
FUND-RAISING DAY
I write this special message to assure you of two
things:
First, how much the trustees and organising team
for this crucial fund-raising event really
appreciate your commitment in being in your church
or chapel to receive sponsored cyclists and walkers,
or visitors taking the chance of the Open Day to
view buildings closed at other times. Thank you
for making them all welcome. I know that at times
there are few visitors and the time on duty is a bit
uninteresting, but for a visitor to receive a
personal welcome, and indeed the offer of some
light refreshments, greatly enhances their visit.
Secondly, last year through the sponsoring of
welcomers alone over £1,500 was raised: a
most commendable effort recognised with pleasure by
the trustees. Thank you to all of you who were able
to have your time on duty supported financially by
your friends and relatives.
So you see, not only cyclists and walkers are
sponsored. YOU may seek sponsorship for the
hours you commit to the day. I do hope that
gives you all the more incentive to support this
vital, annual fund-raising event, now in its 18th
year in the City and County.
£46,200 was raised last year. Our target is the
elusive £50,000 and I look forward to your help to
reach it !
